After establishing a successful TV writing and development career, Vaughan’s first feature film, THIRD STAR starring Benedict Cumberbatch, became a break-out hit in 2011 engaging passionate fans around the globe. After placing highly on the Brit-List, the script was also nominated for a BAFTA Cymru.

Vaughan then focused on growing his diverse production slate and establishing an independent finance base. WEP + Gennaker co-productions to date include; THE CANAL (Dir. Ivan Kavanagh) which premiered at Tribeca in 2014, multi-award winning short BALCONY (Dir. Toby Fell Holden), PREVENGE (Dir. Alice Lowe) which opened Venice Critics’ Week in 2016 and RARE BEASTS (Dir. Billie Piper) which premiered at Venice Critics’ Week in 2019.

In 2023 he produced and executive produced the docu-series GAZZA for the BBC, which won an RTS Award. Most recently Vaughan produced the narrative feature TIMESTALKER by Alice Lowe, released in October 2024.

In 2015 Vaughan made his directorial debut with MR CALZAGHE, an epic documentary about the Welsh Boxing legend. Financed by Gennaker, the film was released by eOne, and won three BAFTA Cymru awards including Best Director (Factual) and Special Achievement in Film Craft.

His follow up to this was PISTORIUS, the story of the Paralympic and Olympic athlete and convicted murderer set against the political backdrop of South Africa. This much anticipated 4-part documentary series was released globally by Amazon in 2018 to great acclaim. Vaughan is now developing his narrative feature debut, CRUSADERS, which pitches as ‘A Butch and Sundance set in 1190’.
